It’s official – The Glass House has been cancelled.

This wasn’t entirely unexpected – given the new editorial guidelines on the ABC.

Yeah, they did have constant digs at the government – but that’s fairly well expected.
If you’re not allowed to criticise bad decisions the government has made, then you’re quickly going to end up in a situation like China.

I find it interesting that The Chaser hasn’t been canned though – perhaps both at once would be a bit much to put down as simply “going a new direction”?

They do say, however that “comedy and satire is exempt from the new editorial policies”.

Looks like Bill Murray (Groundhog Day, Lost in Translation, etc) can still pull hot Scandinavian chicks, even ones nearly one third of his age.

Turns out Bill (56) got invited to a student party in Scotland, by Lykke Stavnef (22), a Norwegian born student, studying in St. Andrews.

Read all about it on CNN

Funny comments from digg: “In a strange turn of events, he appeared at the same party the next day, again doing the dishes and drinking vodka from coffee cups.” – darthmdh

It’s kinda scary how old he’s looking now though, I didn’t realise he was quite that old.
Now I’m sounding old.

According to an article in The Age, The Nine Network (owned/backed by Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (PBL)) has launched court proceedings to stop IceTV from publishing it’s Electronic Program Guide (EPG) information.

I can only find this forum post from IceTV on the issue, since their Corporate News page is mostly empty. Edit: Looks like there’s been an ongoing thread since June about this.

I’ve got several words for PBL / Ch9 (and any other network that forces this issue). None of them could be said in polite company.

Not providing the EPG information freely is in itself despicable. Going after IceTV or anyone else that provides it is the last straw.

I call on everyone to do the following things:

Firstly, Write to/email the papers (both ones owned by PBL, and those not) and blog about what you think of PBL/Channel 9′s actions.

Secondly, Write to/email your local MP, and Senator The Hon. Helen Coonan to tell them they should be involved in creating legislation to require broadcast networks to make their program schedules available freely.

Thirdly, refrain from buying/using any PBL products.
This list includes:

  • ACP Magazines
Here’s a list of ACP Mags – which includes APCmag – if you weren’t already confused enough.
  • Foxtel
  • Hoyts
  • Ticketek

Amongst many others.

If you’ve ever wished that a movie ended a different way, well… perhaps some of the alternate endings presented on this site will be your thing.

Really, they’re absolutely hilarious —

Check out this one on Youtube for Superman:

Penny Arcade think White Knight Story is a compelling reason to get a PS3.

Sure, great looking trailer, but I’m not convinced it’s worth forking out that much cash for a pretty limited piece of kit (from what I’m reading).

You Tube Version:

High Def: Windows Media (115MB) and Quicktime (~130MB)

Mean while, over on Ctrl+Alt+Del, Tim links to the trailer for a new movie based on Frank Miller’s 300.

Youtube (not very good quality):

…or Quicktime (not much better).

More TV Stuff

This is my last post on TV stuff for the moment… honest :P

Marking Time is on again on the ABC. It’s a 2-part Miniseries written by John Doyle (although you might know him better as Roy Slaven, from the comedy/sporting duo Roy & H.G), who also wrote Changi.

For local interest, it’s been filmed in and around Singleton.

Marking Time, Part 2 is on ABC TV (and HDTV) this Saturday, September 16th 10:10PM. (Right after Rockwiz on SBS) Also available on DVD.

Someone recommended Weeds to me. I guess there’s no chance of it being shown on TV here.

Oh — and Spooks, Season 5 is starting in just a week or so! (Can’t wait!).

For any Americans, you should be watching the Battlestar Galactica Webisodes as they come out.

For the rest of us, we’ll just have to suffice with the Season 3 cast photos.

Get your fix of the Cylon hotties now.

And lets not forget the human hotties Starbuck, or Dualla either.

Before you ask, no, it’s not a porn film — it’s a movie I saw on SBS (no, not even SBS style soft-core porn).

It’s filmed in Munich, and is in German. Very very funny — It’s basicly a film about three girls (college students) searching for an apartment, and how each searches in their own way.
It’s kinda cool recognising all the different places they go in Munich.

Check it out – Girls on Top 2 or Mädchen, Mädchen 2 – Loft oder Liebe. (Literally: “Girl, Girl 2 – Loft of Love” — yeah, sounds like a porn film title)

(I’ve gotta go dig up a copy of the first film now…)
