When the Orcas Beta 1 came out, I eagerly downloaded it from my MSDN Subscription on my home machine (no way am I letting it touch my main work machine just yet!).
I couldn’t even get through the installer - it just complained about something not being right (I forget what). Brian Masden is encountering similar issues it seems - although he seems further along than me.
If an MVP can’t get it running on a clean Vista box - no wonder I’m having zero luck!
Keep fighting the good fight, Brian!

Hey Will,
Yeah - seems to be a few problems with it at the moment.
But there IS light at the end of the tunnel afterall.
I spoke to some MSFT employees who guided me to a blog entry done by Aaron Stebner which dealt with VS2005 and simular issues as what i had.
The reason for the issues are that i’ve had a previous version installed and that it wasn’t removed properly - that’s the gist of things.
i’m going to try out the solution mention here http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/10/14/481309.aspx
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/12/16/504906.aspx and here http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/10/14/481309.aspx
Its a rather lenghty process but i’m going to go through with it.
If you have any more problems you can do two things..1) go to http://connect.microsoft.com and lodge an error/bug/issue or 2) contact me and i’ll see what i can do about getting some help for the issues.

Looks like a good start Brian - I’ll give it a shot and report back.
By previous version, do you mean of Orcas, or Visual Studio? I’d still like to be able to run VS2005.

Hey Will,
By removing all i mean all - you can always install VS2005 afterwards if you feel like it, but for a successful install of Orcas remove everything - at least that’s what i’m going to do, then cross my fingers and hope it works.
