Excuse me for a moment… (Venting)

This is a mini-rant on a few different things I wanted to get off my chest

Camera Operators (for Vodcasts/etc) - Stop f’ing with the camera!

I watched the PodTech/Scobleshow Exclusive lunch with Robert Scoble and Bill Gates last night. The content was great, and I would really like to thank the folks that got it to happen.  Gates adds some interesting commentary on the whole Net Neutrality thing, and gets stuck

The thing that constantly bugged me was having the camera operator stuff around the whole time - seriously, level the camera, point it at your main subject (Gates), and unless someone’s in your line-of-sight or something important happens, leave the thing alone.

I understand that the camera operator was only brought in at the last minute, and there was really no time to set up or pre-wire for sound - that’s fine, and understandable.  However, it’d be better if the thing was left alone - at least for 15 minutes at a time.

Bloggers and others - Link to the main article!

Too many times I’ve been browsing a site, and I’ll see an interesting post pointing out something, and it links off to somewhere. That page adds nothing particularly interesting to the discussion, and links off to the main article.

Please, link to the main article, unless someone else is adding something significant to the discussion. (”So and so has a report. Will joe-bob call bs on this?” isn’t significant). Oh, by all means link to the place you got the article from (credit, where credit’s due), but please make sure you link directly to the actual content too.

Good Example:

Company Z reveals product Y

Jim bob wrote on his blog about this new product that Super-mega-site reviews.  Jim bob thinks it’s all just a load of crap, and I agree.
