Jetstar Sucks

Posted in Rant, Travel by Will on December 3, 2006.

Thankyou, Jetstar, you’ve joined the list of Companies I’ll avoid, and recommend against using.

Seriously - first of all, you lie to customers waiting in the queue about how late the plane will be (two lots of “It’ll be delayed by 20 minutes”, followed by “The plane has just left Newcastle” when we were supposed by be boarding), then you make us sit in the plane for over 30 minutes whilst you stuff around with the APU and wait on Paperwork from CASA.

On top of all that - you then have the nerve to ask if we’d like to buy overpriced drinks or snacks.

Believe me Will, Virgin is no better. I will never forget the flight to Sydney to watch the world cup match against Uruguay. We arrive at the airport (Hobart) at 5.40am for a 6.50am departure. Wait in line for close to 40 minutes to check our bags, only to be told there will be a delay (now 8am departure) due to a cracked windscreen. That’s fair enough, I don’t want to be flying on some aircraft that blows out it’s windscreen at 30,000 feet. Then further delay until 11.30am due to the need for a crew change (we go back home at this stage)
…but still waiting on the windscreen (it had to come from Brisbane). Delayed once again until 12.30pm (we’re back at the airport after receiving a phone call that departure is immenent)…then 2pm (they’ve handed us some vouchers so that we can eat airport food). By this time it looks as though the flight might be cancelled until someone reminds Virgin that this is a football crowd they are playing with and they do they want a riot on their hands (you know what us footy blokes are like!!!). We calculate that we MUST leave Hobart by 4.45pm otherwise getting to Stadium Australia in time for the 7.30pm kickoff just won’t happen. Resceduled departure time?? 4.45pm. I’ve been at the airport for nearly 12 hours and Virgin tries to buy us off by offering to paint our faces so we’ll look the part when we get to the game.

We got to the game as the National Anthem was being played.

Virgin is no better Will. Trust me!!

    haha im family everyone!!! *waves*

i have to agree with william the conqueror on this one. jetstar are not only a poor service company they are also sadistic!!!!!!!!!!!!! well not really but they arent that intelligent…*thinks* argh i dont know how to say this.

i had an operation in january in melbourne. i was in hospital for 5 days until i was allowed to fly home. the operation was on my pelvis and my left leg was very sore to move and hold in the same position for long periods (10 mins). being a “special” passenger with Jetstar (i think i got some ridiculous blue pass or silver or one of those things) i was allowed onto the plane before anyone, which is a first for me and on any other day i would have ripped it up down the aisle. so anyway being first on i had priority seating wherever i wanted :D:D:D:D which was awesome. i chose a seat right at the front with unlimited leg room, unless you’re a giant. BUUUUT i was told that i was not allowed to as these were “emergency seats” and in the case of a landing the people seated here needed to be fully fit…… i ask you!!, in an emergency with a plane thundering towards the ground at hundreds of kilometres per hour, what difference would an able bodied person be able to make than a disabled person. even if tehre was a cabin fire when we were taxiing out on the runway i guarantee you i would have been one of the most able bodied people on board that plane. so i spent the hour and a half long flight continually cramping and whincing as my leg was stuck in those TINY little leg compartments.
